Today is YOUR day!

Carpe Diem.  Seize the Day!  Today is the day you will change your life.

Every day that you stay off a diet is another pound gained instead of a pound lost.  Quit putting it off!
How many "new years resolutions" have you made to lose just ten pounds, and here you are another year gone by and you're ten pounds heavier

It is okay though, because that is the past.  Today you will make a resolution to yourself.  So arm yourself with the latest knowledge and start changing your life!

"Dieting" has always been a scary word.  And change can be difficult, so I will give you a few motivational facts.

Obesity is a major risk factor for coronary heart disease.  This fatal  disease is the number one killer of Americans today!

But I'm a woman-- heart attacks don't happen to us.   Wrong!  2/5 (or 40%) of ALL heart attacks are women!  That is almost half.  What is the cause?  Being over weight.  Change that!

Many people today live with a general feeling of "unwell" that they've learned to live with... and seldom even realize it exists.   This is because our bodies are not designed for the strange chemicals we take in while eating the foods we have available today.  Lets change that fact.

Are you ready to take change your life?  Begin here.

Five Simple Ways to Get the Most Out of Your Diet

1.  Stop Drinking Soda!

Okay, so here's how it works:  Soda is high in sugar.  When you drink soda this causes your insulin levels to spike to a relatively high levels.  One of the main purposes of insulin is to regulate fat storage in the body, so by having such high levels of it you will in effect increase the amount of fat stored/retained.  Also remember that usually you will be eating high cal foods while you're drinking soda.  This applies to anything with high sugar.  Which is why...

2.  Eat for your daily plans!

If you plan to be active eat carbs to supply you with energy, protein to help rebuild, and some more fat than usual is OK because it will be burned off during the "afterburn" of your activity.  What is afterburn?  Read on.

3.  Utilize "Afterburn!"

Okay, so what is this "Afterburn" mumbo-jumbo?  It is the period after your body is active where it recovers.  Rebuilding muscle fibers and replenishing the readily available vitamin stores in the body takes not only time, but ENERGY!  So the harder you work out the more calories you will burn at the time, but also AFTER you're done for several hours!  And the next one is a no brainer...

4.  Exercise!

There's a simple equation for losing weight.  Energy expended>energy intake = weight loss.  If you eat more than you burn of COURSE you're going to gain weight.  That's why the steriotype of a banker is fat (since he sits in a chair counting money) and a construction worker is fit!  But there's another side to the coin...

5.  Diet!

if Energy expended > energy intake = weight loss, and exercise increases the energy expended... what if we also reduced the energy intake?  That would be hitting it from both angles!  Dieting doesn't have to be painful.  Most of todays consumer foods aren't built to make you feel full but to satisfy your taste buds.  Eat a cupcake, then eat a quarter pound of brocolli.  Which makes you feel fuller?  The quarter pound of brocolli in your gut of course.  But the net calories of so much green food is actually less than that cup cake!

Dieting Necessity Part One: Preparation to Ensure Success!

Being a guy all of my nutritional experience is catered toward males... but I don't see why that wouldn't work. I lost 7 lbs in august while putting on a bunch of muscle weight, though not sure how much; this diet is built for optimal muscle repair.

Note: This information has come from a collection of magazines including Men's Health, Flex, Reps, and (in my opinion) one of the most important and complete guides to diet and body health, the "Muscle Chow Diet" by Gregg Avedon, as well as my own personal experience and schooling (yeah I'm a bio major).

First we need to make a few assessments. What are your goals? Write them down, keep them on your wall. Write it on your forearm and trace over it after you shower so you'll always see it. The point is, make goals and put them in a place you'll see.

Ask your friends to help you stay motivated. Maybe they'd like to join you!

Now lets face it. Probably around 95% of people who go on a diet stop for the reason that they don't see results. They're just simply not ready for a diet, and that's OK. So the question is, how do you get ready? You don't just show up on the day of a marathon to run it (I hope not) you'll fall out and possibly hurt yourself. So this is the best way I've found (and it has actually been recommended to me during my research by other people, which I think is cool to hear about it from several primary sources).

Decide what the worst item in your diet is. Say it's pizza, and you eat 4 slices per week. Cut it down to two. After a week or two cut it down to 1, then move on to another item. After a few months of this you will already be eating a fairly good diet, and you'll be ready to start on this diet program.

Five Simple Ways to Feel Great!

1.  Increase your Vitamin B 12 intake.

Vitamin B 12 aids in energy production.  Ever seen those 5 hour energy drinks that have 4 calories but give a great boost?  They have massive amounts of vitamin b 12.  Just increasing the amount in your diet will have a "pick me up" effect.

2.  Stop eating fast food.

Fast food is loaded with preservatives, incredible amounts of fats (a large Big Mac value meal has close to 2500 calories) and more calories than you need per day!  Stop doing this for two weeks and you'll notice a big difference (and probly lose a few pounds, too)!

3.  Do a body cleanse.

We are constantly intaking things into are body that are NOT natural.  Believe it or not, nature did NOT invent transfats, aspertame, or most preservatives used today.  These things can cause our bodies anything from just a general feeling of "unwell" to slower metabolism (and thus more fat storage).

4.  Drink more water!

Water is used by our body for EVERYTHING!  It's one of the primary ingredients in energy, digestion, thinking... and most of us are constantly dehydrated.  Increase your water intake to 128 fl oz. per day.  Go for 256 if you can! (that's one gallon).

5.  Lose weight!

Imagine carrying a ten pound weight.  At first it's not so bad.  By the end of the though your arms ache and your legs are tired, back is probly sore too.  Guess what?  You're doing that right now!  Imagine how much more energy you'd have if you lost just Ten pounds!  Now imagine if you lost twenty... or  thirty!  A body fat percentage of 10-13% is very good and it is at this level you will feel great because you look good and have TONS of energy!
